During a trip to Japan in 2000, Pearson reprised the European-based ‘Wish You Were Here’ idea. This time, the very different Japanese visual culture informed the work and tourist postcards were purchased each day of the trip. These formed the background to a more geographically and culturally-specific series of twenty daily 'interventions' in which the tourist image was altered, either in keeping with, or in opposition to the very different cultural subject matter, from which a selection is shown here.
